How To Demolish A Generational Curse

What Is A Generational Curse?

Today’s blog is one that can literally change your life forever. I want you to read this one at least twice and apply it to your life. You are going to learn what a generational curse is and how to destroy it!

gen·er·a·tion
noun

  1. all of the people born and living at about the same time, regarded collectively. “one of his
    generation’s finest songwriters”

are born and grow up, become adults, and begin to have children of their own. “the same
families have lived here for generations”
 a set of members of a family regarded as a single step or stage in descent.” a third-
    generation Canadian”
 a single stage in the development of a type of product. “a new generation of rear-engined
    sports cars”
 the production of something. “methods of electricity generation”

curse
noun

a solemn utterance intended to invoke a supernatural power to inflict harm or punishment on someone or something.

When we put these two words together we get the term Generational Curse. A generational curse (or blessing) usually shows up as a pattern in your family history.

Most of us suffer from some type of generational curse but that doesn’t mean the curse has
to continue to the next generation. If you do the work, the curse WILL stop at your
generation.

Think about the common things that the people in your family deal with and journal them. We are going to revisit them later in this blog.

Generational curses are ordained for a person before they are even born. Which means it isn’t your fault this is happening to you. Almost one hundred percent of the time it’s an ancestor’s actions that placed you under that curse. With that being said, check yourself
to make sure you are not sinning and doing things to curse yourself and the future generations to come in your family. Don’t be ‘that’ ancestor.

To make it even more plain, look at what God says in His word:

Numbers 14:18 – The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.
Deuteronomy 5:9 – Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.

Now can you see? If you sin, you, your children, your children’s children, and their children will reap the reward of your sin, which is a curse. When tragic situations happen to children it’s almost ALWAYS because of the sins of their forefathers. God grieves when tragic situations happen to children, but He won’t go against his word.. Because God is a man of His word and He holds His word higher than Himself.

Psalms 138:2
I will worship toward Your holy temple,
And praise Your name
For Your lovingkindness and Your truth;
For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.

When you sin it’s like you tie the hands of God from helping you and your children. Even if you are chosen by God to do great things and have a track record of pleasing God, one sin can affect your generations.

If you don’t believe me, ask David. He went and got himself into an entanglement with Bathsheba and then tried to cover it up, and his children paid for it! They had NOTHING to do with his sin, but they had to suffer the consequences. In fact, God cursed David’s house with conflict among his children and allowed his first born son with Bathsheba to die as a baby.

On the flip side, it’s the same with generational blessings. The reason why David’s bloodline was chosen to sit on the throne forever was because of the covenant and relationship that God had with David.

2 Samuel 7:14-17

Even though many in David’s bloodline were very wicked, God didn’t take them off the throne because His word is bond. He holds His word higher than His name. So it works both ways.

I want to show you an example of how a generational curse can start and continue down the bloodline.

Let’s dive in!

Example of Generational Curse

generational curses in the Bible

Jacob, Levi, Moses, and Aaron’s Grandson

Jacob had 12 sons and as he is on his dying bed, he is  giving out blessings and curses. In Genesis 49: 5-7 He is cursing the anger of his sons Simeon and Levi because they violently killed a group of men for raping their sister.

Genesis 49: 5-7
5 “Simeon and Levi are brothers;
Instruments of [a]cruelty are in their dwelling place.

6 Let not my soul enter their council;
Let not my honor be united to their assembly;
For in their anger they slew a man,
And in their self-will they [b]hamstrung an ox.

7 Cursed be their anger, for it is fierce;
And their wrath, for it is cruel!
I will divide them in Jacob
And scatter them in Israel.

Go with me here: Levi had three sons, Kehath, Gershon, Merari.  Kehath had four sons, Amran, Uzziel, Ishtar, and Hebron. Amran is the father of MosesAaron, and Miriam.

The number one reason why Moses did not enter into the promise land was because he could not control his anger. I wonder where he got that angry spirit from? His great granddaddy perhaps?

Exodus 2:11-12
11 Now it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out to his brethren and
looked at their burdens. And he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren.
12 So he looked this way and that way, and when he saw no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.

Exodus 11: 4-8
4 Then Moses said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt;
5 and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the female servant who is behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the animals.
6 Then there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as was not like it before, nor shall be like it again.
7 But against none of the children of Israel shall a dog [a]move its tongue, against man or beast, that you may know that the Lord does make a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.’
8 And all these your servants shall come down to me and bow down to me, saying, ‘Get out, and all the people who follow you!’ After that I will go out.” Then he went out from Pharaoh in great anger.

Exodus 32: 15-20
15 And Moses turned and went down from the mountain, and the two tablets of the Testimony were in his hand. The tablets were written on both sides; on the one side and on the other they were written.
16 Now the tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God engraved on the tablets.
17 And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, “There is a noise of war in the camp.”
18 But he said:
“It is not the noise of the shout of victory,
Nor the noise of the cry of defeat,
But the sound of singing I hear.”
19 So it was, as soon as he came near the camp, that he saw the calf and the dancing. So Moses’ anger became hot, and he cast the tablets out of his hands and broke them at the foot of the mountain.
20 Then he took the calf which they had made, burned it in the fire, and ground it to powder; and
he scattered it on the water and made the children of Israel drink it.

Yeah, the children of Israel were complaining and Moses was angry because of it, but God had,
had enough of Moses’ anger at this point:

 Numbers 20:7-12
7 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
8 Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.
9 And Moses took the rod from before the Lord, as he commanded him.
10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?
11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out
abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.
12 And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the
eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I
have given them.

Even though Moses and Aaron had a track record of pleasing God, their anger caused them to
miss out on bringing the children of Israel into the land of promise.

God needed them to trust Him and do exactly what He said so they would reflect Godly behavior and show the people what it looks like to be set apart and holy. However, Moses was angry and struck the rock twice instead of speaking to the rock like God told him to which reflected the people’s bad behavior.

God still allowed the water to flow from the rock, but the anger Moses inherited disqualified him from entering the land he had been longing for. It’s a shame how generational curses prevent so many people from receiving the promises of God when they don’t have to.

God knew this bloodline had a history of killing people but He could not go against His
word. That said, He still used it to his glory.

Let’s look at Phinehas the Grandson of Aaron:

Numbers 25:1-9
1 Now Israel remained in Acacia Grove, and the people began to commit harlotry with the women of
Moab.
2 They invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their
gods. 3 So Israel was joined to Baal of Peor, and the anger of the Lord was aroused against Israel.
4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Take all the leaders of the people and hang the offenders before the
Lord, out in the sun, that the fierce anger of the Lord may turn away from Israel.”
5 So Moses said to the judges of Israel, “Every one of you kill his men who were joined to Baal of Peor.”
6 And indeed, one of the children of Israel came and presented to his brethren a Midianite woman in the sight of Moses and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping at the door of the tabernacle of meeting.
7 Now when Phinehas the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose from among
the congregation and took a javelin in his hand;
8 and he went after the man of Israel into the tent and thrust both of them through, the man of
Israel, and the woman through her body.
So the plague was stopped among the children of Israel.
9 And those who died in the plague were twenty-four thousand.

This angry spirit came from a word curse that his great grand father Jacob put on his grandfather Levi. No one addressed the anger spirit, so it just kept going and going to each generation. The anger spirit kept Moses from enjoying the promises of God.

Has God ever shown you your promise land but you couldn’t seem to figure out why you just couldn’t get there? Is there a curse over your life that needs to be broken? As you can see here, curses are partnered with demonic reinforcement that make sure the curse stays over your life. The job of the demonic spirit is to make sure the promises that God has for you does not manifest.

There are so many examples of generational curses like David and his sons. Noah and his son and so many more. I challenge you to research them and compare them to your life. Speaking of your life, let’s get to the root of some of your problems now.

Identify Your Target

  • Do you have problem keeping a relationship? (Spirit Spouse)
  • Have you been divorced? (Divorce Curse)
  • Do you do drugs? (Addiction Spirit)
  • Are you always at the center of drama? (Gossip and Confusion Spirit)
  • Do you have a problem with having sex even though you are not married? (Lust & Perversion Spirit)

There are so many evil spirits. Identify the spirits in your life. They have just become the target.

Shoot To Kill

generational curses example

Are the things you are dealing with a pattern in your family? If so you have now identified the generational curse. You have to treat generational curses a little different from other situations. In order to break a generational curse, you have to set a fast that has no end date. Yep! You read that right! Set a fast with no end date. You have to have the spirit of Jacob in this situation. I’m not coming off this fast until it breaks!

Think about this. This curse may have been going on for hundreds of years. Do you think it’s going to break because you went on a fast for seven days, twenty one or forty days? NO! These spirits are thousands of years old and they are not going to give up just like that. This is an all-out fight for your life, your children, your grandchildren and so on! Even if you don’t have grandchildren yet, be the warrior for them before they get here and stop the curse!

Start by renouncing and denouncing the sins of your fore fathers that created and even perpetuated the generational curse(s) and sever the curse(s) from all future generations.

Repent of your sins and the sins of your fore fathers, then set a fast that you know you can do for possibly a year. Something like don’t eat until 12pm everyday and pray 5 times a day against the target! If you need a prayer strategy check out Three Prayer Strategies To Boost Your Prayer Life. These strategies will help you tremendously if you stay consistent with them in prayer.

Let’s use the spirit of poverty for an example.

You will use the binding and losing method and you will combat the spirits and curses with the Word of God.

“I bind you; you spirit of poverty! I command you to be cast down in the spirit realm with the blood of Jesus. I declare and decree that no weapon form against my generation and bloodline shall be able to prosper. I bind and paralyze your assignment against my generation in the name of Jesus! I decree that this day wealth and riches shall be in my house and my righteousness enduring forever. I decree that I am crowned with wealth! I decree that the blessing of the Lord makes me rich and He adds no trouble to it in the name of Jesus! I loose the blood of Jesus against you, to destroy you in the name of Jesus!”

Tiffani – The222Experience

(You are going to add all the scriptures you can find to combat the spirit you are dealing with.)

Ok? So that is an example of how you would target that spirit and do not stop until God shows you in a dream or in prayer that it is broken. When things start falling apart in your physical life, smile because it’s a sign that you are close to the breakthrough. So don’t give up and stop praying and fasting ok?  Remember, a curse is not broken until God says it’s broken! You got this warrior!

Maintain The Deliverance

generational curses spiritual

Remember what Jesus said about an evil spirit being cast out and trying to come back.

Matthew 12:43-45
43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

Long story short. Keep fasting and praying to keep your deliverance. If you are fasting until twelve everyday and God tells you the curse is broken, pull the fast back to 10am or just fast about three days out of the week. As a Christian, we should be fasting weekly anyway. Once you are all in, this has to become a lifestyle for you.

That’s it! That’s how you break the strongholds of a demonic generation curse. It’s going to take discipline and consistency to get the results that you want. You are literally going to have to decide that you will give up breakfast for a few months to live a lifetime of freedom. It will be rewarding and so worth it. Apply this to your life and watch how you break free from the hand of the enemy! I’m rooting and praying for you!

I hope this blesses you the way it blessed me.

With Love,
Sister Tiffani!
