How To Break A Word Curse
Breaking a word curse off of your life is necessary! Some of us have kept people’s negative words in our minds and have allowed those words to shape our lives. We believed them but the words were not true! Let’s start the journey to destroying these evil words and forgiving the person that spoke them, shall we?
When you speak against someone’s life in a harsh way, you put a word curse on them. We often do this when we are offended or arguing with a person. We have all done it. In other times, we may have been joking, enraged, or predicting how we perceive a person’s life going.
For example, we may observe a child and the child is stealing, lying, and just being rebellious. Instead of praying for the child, we may say, that child is going to end up in jail or dead. That right there is a word curse sisters and brothers.
According to google a curse is a solemn utterance intended to invoke a supernatural power to inflict harm or punishment on someone or something. This couldn’t be further from the truth!
Let’s look at some patterns in the Bible of some word curses so, we can take these lessons and apply them to our life’s.
Biblical Lessons of Word Curses
God, Adam, Eve and The serpent
Once Adam and Eve confessed to eating the fruit and explained why they did it, this changed the relationship between God and humanity forever! He cursed all parties involved, and those curses still affect us today!
14
So the Lord God said to the serpent:
“Because you have done this,
You are cursed more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you shall go,
And you shall eat dust
All the days of your life.
15
And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.”
16
To the woman He said:
“I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception;
In pain you shall bring forth children;
Your desire shall be [e]for your husband,
And he shall rule over you.”
17
Then to Adam He said,
“Because you have heeded the voice of your wife,
and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying,
‘You shall not eat of it’:
“Cursed is the ground for your sake;
In toil you shall eat of it
All the days of your life.
18
Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you,
And you shall eat the herb of the field.
19
In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread
Till you return to the ground,
For out of it you were taken;
For dust you are,
And to dust you shall return.”
God, in this instance, invoked punishment on Adam, Eve, and the serpent because of their actions. He still does this to this day. Which is why we have to make sure we try our best to stay sin free and obey his commands. Yes, we have grace, but grace is not a pass to go and sin and do what you want to do. The wages of sin are death, and in Adam and Eve’s case, it was the death of how God wanted to commune with humanity.
Rachel and Jacob
Genesis 31: 19-32
19Now Laban had gone to shear his sheep, and Rachel had stolen the household idols that were her father’s.
20 And Jacob stole away, unknown to Laban the Syrian, in that he did not tell him that he intended to flee.
21 So he fled with all that he had. He arose and crossed the river, and headed toward the mountains of Gilead.
22 And Laban was told on the third day that Jacob had fled.
23 Then he took his brethren with him and pursued him for seven days’ journey, and he overtook him in the mountains of Gilead.
24 But God had come to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said to him, “Be careful that you speak to Jacob neither good nor bad.”
25 So Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mountains, and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mountains of Gilead.
26 And Laban said to Jacob: “What have you done, that you have stolen away unknown to me, and carried away my daughters like captives taken with the sword?
27 Why did you flee away secretly, and steal away from me, and not tell me; for I might have sent you away with joy and songs, with timbrel and harp?
28 And you did not allow me to kiss my sons and my daughters. Now you have done foolishly in so doing. 29 It is in my power to do you harm, but the God of your father spoke to me last night, saying, ‘Be careful that you speak to Jacob neither good nor bad.’
30 And now you have surely gone because you greatly long for your father’s house, but why did you steal my gods?”
31 Then Jacob answered and said to Laban, “Because I was afraid, for I said, ‘Perhaps you would take your daughters from me by force.’
32 With whomever you find your gods, do not let him live. In the presence of our brethren, identify what I have of yours and take it with you.” For Jacob did not know that Rachel had stolen them.
Genesis 35: 16-20
16 Then they journeyed from Bethel. And when there was but a little distance to go to Ephrath, Rachel labored in childbirth, and she had hard labor.
17 Now it came to pass, when she was in hard labor, that the midwife said to her, “Do not fear; you will have this son also.”
18 And so it was, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she called his name Ben-Oni; but his father called him Benjamin.
19 So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).
20 And Jacob set a pillar on her grave, which is the pillar of Rachel’s grave to this day.
Jacob absolutely loved Rachel. He worked fourteen years for her! Even though he did not know that Rachel was the one that stole the household gods. That word curse went forth into the spirit realm and no one challenged it. So it became a reality. This is real brothers and sisters! Your words hold weight in the spirit realm. This cost Jacob his favorite wife and he didn’t even know it.
Noah and His Son
22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.
23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness.
24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
25 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
26 And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
You may ask why was it that Ham wronged Noah, but Noah cursed Ham’s son? Throughout the Bible, it’s a known principle that when you are cursed, it is not only placed on you, but it goes down to your fourth generation as well. Your children are your legacy, and Satan not only wishes to destroy you, but he wants every generation after you as well. I talk about that in How To Demolish A Generational Curse.
Have you cursed anyone?
This includes cursing yourself as well! You are self sabotaging when you say things against yourself. You open the door to the enemy to carry out your exact your words.
Repent! Now is the time when you break any curses that you have placed over your life and anyone else’s life. Ask God to forgive you and repent of the supernatural forces that you have sent against yourself and those people. The Bible says that we should bless our enemies. Bless and do not curse them.
Once you have curst them, you have gone against what the Bible has instructed you to do. You are now in sin and sin leads to an open door. When you have an open door, the devil gets to walk right into your life. Think about your house. You, your spouse, and your children live in your house, right? Now that you have opened the door to Satan, welcoming him into your house, you’ve just made your entire family vulnerable to being attacked by Satan.
That’s exactly what happened to Ham. He opened the door and Canaan got attacked. Poor baby didn’t even do anything! Now think about your children. They suffer because of your actions, just like you’ve suffered for your parent’s actions.
Asked God to forgive you and repent of any evil words that you’ve spoken, words that have opened doors for spiritual attacks to come against you in the name of Jesus!
Has anyone put a word curse on you?
Anybody with a tongue can place a curse on you, but there is a clause to that. The Bible says a curse cannot land with a cause. This means you cannot have any sin in your heart. When you have sin in your heart, the witchcraft, word curses and demonic spirits can have their way in your life. Close your life to sin!
I want you to think back to any time you’ve heard someone say something negative about you. Write them down. Now reject, revoke, and renounce the word curses. Cancel every word curse spoke over your life, even the ones you know nothing about. Cast down every one else’s vain imaginations spoken against you in the spirit realm. Do you know that when a person places a word curse on you, that word curse has a date to manifest in the physical realm? Destroy it with the word of God before the date comes! Go to the Bible and gather scriptures about who you are, and confess blessings over your life starting right now!
A Prayer to Break The Word Curse!
Start with these confessions!
- I am a child of God – Romans 8: 16
- I am redeemed from he hand of the enemy Psalm 107:2
- I am delivered from the powers of darkness Colossians 1:13
- I am strong in the Lord and in the power of his might Ephesians 6:10
- I am doing all things through Christ who strengthens me Philippians 4:13
- I am blessed coming in and going out Deuteronomy 28:6
- I am above only and not beneath Deuteronomy 28:13
- I am more than a conqueror Romans 8:37
So it’s important to speak the word of God over your life daily. To combat the curses that have been placed out there. Every morning you get up, you should be binding word curses that have been placed over you. You never know who has your name in their mouth.
Be Careful With Your Words
From this day forward, watch every word that you say! The devil doesn’t fight fair and is waiting for you to curse yourself and someone else. Remember that the angels of God respond to God’s word, so speak life! Instead of putting the demons to work with word curses, put the angels to work by speaking blessing.
I hope this blessed you the way it blessed me.
With Love,
Your Sister, Tiffani!
How in the world did I miss this one! Wonderful and powerful!
